Stephanie Whitney , M.S., CCC-SLP
Stephanie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Seton Hall University.
Stephanie has clinical experience in a variety of settings including acute care, out patient rehabilitation, private clinic, and school settings. She has treated children 18 months to 18 years of age with a wide variety of diagnoses including auditory processing, pragmatic language, articulation, phonological, and receptive-expressive language disorders. She has also worked with children with primary diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, specific learning disability, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as well as those with sensory processing needs.
Prior to joining CSS, Stephanie had the opportunity to work very closely with occupational therapists and board certified behavior analysts providing therapy to children on the autism spectrum and for those with sensory integration needs. During this time, she learned the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to treatment to assist with overall development and speech-language skills. She completed introductory coursework in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) and the Developmental Individual-Differences and Relationship-based model of treatment (DIRFloortime). The latter treatment model resonated with Stephanie, as she believes that the cornerstone of successful treatment is a healthy relationship between caretakers, the child, and his/her therapist.
Stephanie believes that children make maximum therapeutic gains when they are actively engaged and motivated as well as when they feel successful and supported. Stephanie is licensed to practice speech-language pathology in the State of New Jersey.
