Speech Language Pathologist

Emily Boruch , M.A., CFY-SLP

Emily Boruch received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Montclair State University and her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Kean University.

Emily has experience working in clinical, inpatient, outpatient, and educational settings. She has provided individual and group therapy to individuals with autism, articulation/phonological disorders, apraxia, feeding and swallowing disorders, receptive/expressive language delays/disorders, social/pragmatic difficulties, and various cognitive deficits and syndromes. 

Emily has been trained to use the Integral Stimulation/Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing treatment approach for children with apraxia of speech, which emphasizes the cognitive-motor programming necessary for speech production.  Emily also has experience treating children with severe communication impairments, including the use of AAC. Her expertise includes both high and low technology communication devices, iPad applications for communication, switch access and computer access. She has attended workshops on Cultural Competence within the field.  Emily has conducted research examining the role that executive functions play in emerging language development. In the school system, Emily has experience participating as part of a Child Study Team in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, collaborating with teachers, and consulting with other therapists to increase carryover of skills. 

Emily is dedicated to her rewarding career as a speech-language pathologist. She believes in a whole-child approach to foster optimal growth. She collaborates with the child’s whole team, including parents and teachers, to provide the most effective therapy strategies and maximize carryover of skills. Emily believes it is important to make therapy motivating, exciting, and meaningful. She is inspired by her ability to make an impact on the lives of children and witness their communication skills develop.  Emily resides in Scotch Plains.

Emily is licensed by the State of New Jersey and certified by the New Jersey Department of Education as a Speech-Language Specialist.
