Speech-Language Therapists

Rebekah Strombom, M.S., CCC-SLP

Rebekah received her Bachelor of Arts degree, in Communication Sciences and Disorders, from Louisiana State University and her Master of Science degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Rebekah began her career working with the geriatric population. In 2006, she began working with children in the home, sensory gym and school settings. She worked closely with occupational and physical therapists and learned to integrate movement and fine motor activities into her sessions. She now uses a whole body approach to increase a child’s readiness, motivation and interest in communicating. Rebekah has several years of experience working with programming and designing AAC devices to be utilized in the classroom and community settings. She utilizes a total communication approach with children who have limited verbal skills. Rebekah has had the pleasure of working with children ages 2-17, addressing a range of communication weaknesses affected by oral motor dysfunction, apraxia of speech, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, stuttering, executive function disorders, autistic spectrum disorders, microcephaly, articulation/phonological disorders, and receptive and expressive language deficits. She feels that every child provides a unique opportunity to apply her knowledge and skills to help that child achieve his or her potential.

Rebekah is certified by the American Speech-Language Association (ASHA) and licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey. She is trained in PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets-Level 1&2), Beckman Oral Motor Intervention and Visualizing and Verbalizing by Lindamood Bell. She continues to attend courses on her areas of interest, which include: treating children with anxiety/ADHD, stuttering, apraxia of speech, sensory integration deficits, and executive function disorders; and improving reading comprehension.

Rebekah has lived and practiced in Louisiana, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. She lives with her Swedish husband, son, and twin daughters.
