Kira Farman, M.S., CCC-SLP
Kira earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis for Developmental Disabilities at Binghamton University and her Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology with a certification in Early Intervention from Northeastern University.

Kira joined Creative Speech Solutions, LLC in January of 2012. Prior to that, she worked as a speech language pathologist in a variety of settings, including public school, private school for children with special needs, early intervention and hospital settings, where she gained vast experience treating children with autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and intensive medical needs. She also has experience treating apraxia, language disorders, oral motor and feeding issues, dysarthria, social language impairments and phonological and articulation disorders. Her special interests include feeding therapy, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and language therapy for children on the autism spectrum.

Kira has specific experience treating children with severe communication impairments, including the use of AAC. Her expertise includes both high and low technology communication devices, iPad applications for communication, environmental control units, switch access and computer access.

Kira is extensively trained in techniques to effectively treat children with feeding disorders, including behavioral, structural and sensory based feeding issues. She feels it is extremely important to collaborate with parents and colleagues, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers, nutritionists and doctors in order to help provide therapy that best meets the needs of each child on her caseload.

Kira has received the Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. She has been trained in Kay Toomey’s Sequential-Oral-Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding, as well as Lori Overland, Sarah Rosenfeld Johnson, and Melanie Potock’s approaches to oral motor and feeding therapy. She is trained in PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets). Kira attends many conferences and continuing education programs focusing on topics including autism spectrum disorders, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), and feeding disorders. Kira believes that it is important to look at each child as an individual and has found a combination of approaches to be beneficial to her clients based on their individual needs. In her free time, Kira enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time with her husband and beautiful daughter.

Kira is certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the State of New Jersey. She also maintains certification by the New Jersey Department of Education as a Speech-Language Specialist.
